Among them is Julia Cicero, whose loyalties are divided between her father and her lover
Narrative
The city of New Rome faces a duel between Caesar Catiline, a brilliant artist who favors a utopian future, and greedy mayor Franklin Cicero. Francis Ford Coppola wrote the screenplay in the early 1980s, but the film was partially shelved due to his financial debts. Pre-production finally began in 2001, after shooting 30 hours of second-unit footage and a table read featuring Paul Newman, Uma Thurman, Robert De Niro, James Gandolfini, Nicolas Cage, Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Edie Falco and Kevin Spacey. The project was scrapped after the September 11 attacks because the plot from the script (p.
166) was “intended” to change the plot
attacks. Coppola abandoned the project entirely in 2007, and didn’t resume development until 2019. The security video of Cicero entering Caesar’s office features two different cameras, as indicated by the small text in the upper left corner. It’s the exact same footage, reversed and slightly skewed.
The camera work was definitely a show

Overall, this movie is definitely not for most people
However, the special effects were either a strong addition to the sequences or embarrassing to watch. I liked the dream aesthetic of the films, but the dialogue was either comically difficult to understand or didn’t seem to fit the plot/characters. My favorite part of the movie was definitely the Virgin Pledge sequence. While it didn’t add anything to the story, the song was actually good and the visuals were a treat for the eyes.
I’m embarrassed that I liked it
It’s a terrible movie that I enjoyed because of the offbeat performances that made me laugh. Check out our list of exciting new movies from this year’s film festivals, including Venice, TIFF, New York Film Festival, and more.
